Aaron Horkey
I can't tell you how much I respect this man's work. It's rare for this known recluse to give an interview so I thought I'd take a minute to share one Mr. Shane Jessup mentioned to me. If you're curious to see more of his work or possibly get a print (good luck they sell out pretty quickly) check out burlesque design.

The Magician Longs to See
I woke up from one of these kind of dreams this morning. At the end I was teleported to Beijing where a small chinese boy sat on a pile of firecrackers, junk wares and brick-a-brack. He recited poetry written by miles davis in perfect english to a crass british couple, someone mistook me for Jamie Foxx

Dirtbike 1-3
Love it or leave it. I have always admired the music of Nova Scotia's Buck 65. Some people really dislike him...ok I understand..but seriously.. give it a chance.. This past year Buck released a pretty great compilation called Dirtbike. The list of contributors is just as impressive. Thanks to Ben over at KlaimCo for sharing.

werewolves and cocaine
i was making this and i just found out there is a song by rye coalition called cocaine werewolf. its neither about cocaine or werewolves so it didnt make the cut, just more hipster buzzword garbage. funny minded poor music taste having freaks think alike it would seem. their song sucks but these are pretty cool. and actually about cocaine. and werewolves. enjoy.

Wild Beasts: Brave Bulging Bouyant Clairvoyants
Wild Beasts - Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants. Dir: OneInThree from OneInThree on Vimeo.
Hello all,
Sorry I have been horrible about keeping up posting mixes but I haven't been at home much in the past few weeks and when I have I've been quite busy. I hope some of these video clips will tie you over until the next mix.
About this video: This music video was made by the british studio OneInThree. Apparently they had 9 plus computers working for over a week straight to process the footage in the video. The concept for the video is based on an unfinished Escher lithograph from 1956 which utilizes whats known as the "Droste Effect" (named after a dutch cocoa of the same name whos packaging featured a nurse holding a platter with a package of cocoa which in turn had a nurse holding a package of cocoa...) Anyways the final product is rather impressive. Although relying on a gimmick effect of sorts the usage and technical complexity makes the aesthetic of the effect hold water. Watch it you'll find yourself strangely fixated.
cheers

You Only Live Once
There's always a good amount of apprehension when someone wants to introduce you to someone but they preface it by saying "you're either going to totally love them or hate them, no really they're great". Well, thats this mix, that is if you could call it that, I'm pretty sure this is a frankenstein version of another mix. so apologies if there are some duplicate tracks from old mixes..honestly though..have you really been listening to all of them?

Over the Covers Under the Sheets
Covers are interesting. They can emphasize lyrics and moments in songs that were not necessarily apparent in the original. They can be the greatest homage or the oddest and sometimes worst butchering of something classic and irreplaceable. They tend to reaffirm the reason we fell in love with the song in the first place or if anything why the musicians who played it originally are so damn good at what they do. Covers are something to argue over, tug on and discard amongst your daily toss and turns.
